Dr. Ahmad Aliyu provides leadership for strategic information activities and staff. He ensures that data generated are used for program planning and policy development. He oversees best practices in the collection, reporting and management of data in health facility, regional and national levels. He also collaborates with donor agencies, the government and other partners for monitoring and evaluation of health programs.
Dr. Aliyu is an alumni of the University of Maryland, Baltimore where he obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health. He also has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and a Bachelors degree in Medicine and Surgery from University of Illorin. He is an Associate Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management.
He has more than 20 years of experience in managing and implementing public health programs. Prior to joining IHVN, he served as the Unit Lead for Strategic Information at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)in Nigeria. As CDC Lead, he was responsible for supervision of surveys, health management information systems and monitoring and evaluation.
Dr. Aliyu has attended several trainings in the areas of epidemiology, ethics, public health evaluation, antiretroviral therapy and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. He is married with children, loves swimming, reading and playing tennis.
