Judith Arachie coordinates and manages activities of the genomics laboratory at the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) while ensuring good laboratory practice in HIV drug resistance testing across IHVN-supported laboratories.
She also collaborates with research institutions, healthcare organizations, and partners to enhance the network of genomics resources in the country. Her tasks include the evaluation of new technologies in genomics sequencing and participation in grant writing, research, as well as budget tracking of various projects.
Judith has a robust background in healthcare and clinical laboratory practice as well as implementation of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis programs. Before joining the Institute, she worked as Associate Head of the Laboratory Department in both Reddington Multi-Specialist Hospital and R-Jolad Hospitals in Lagos State as well as Head of Laboratory in Solid Rock Hospital in Lagos State.
Within the Institute, she has handled several tasks in program evaluation and monitoring for general and key populations, laboratory quality management systems, laboratory procurement and supply chain management, laboratory systems strengthening and Molecular diagnostics.
Judith is a member of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), Nigerian Biological Safety Association (NiBSA), Hematology and Blood Transfusion Scientists Society of Nigeria (HBTSSN), African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria and the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (MLSCN/AMLSN). She also has various certifications in genomics medicine, global health research, and anti-microbial resistance response prevention of infectious diseases amongst other areas.
She is a graduate of the University of South Wales, United Kingdom and the Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, from where she earned a master’s degree in public health (MPH) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS).
Her research interests are HIV/TB, cancer, and quality management systems (QMS).
